BMO pledges $100,000 to provide education access for military family members BMO has a long-standing history of supporting the CAF, as well as supporting education to help remove barriers for an inclusive society and a more equitable future for all. The Support Our Troops National Scholarship Program addresses the increasing need for post-secondary scholarship opportunities for military family members. Since the launch of the program in 2015, the goal has been, and continues to be, to assist more dependents in military families with achieving their educational goals. The program receives hundreds of applicants year after year. Last year, $240,000 was distributed through 98 scholarships. These scholarships are made possible thanks to the generosity of our steadfast supporters and donors. BMO, the official bank of the Canadian Defence Community, has been a long-time supporter of Support Our Troops through our signature events Canada Army Run, Navy Bike Ride, and the Royal Canadian Air Force Run. In addition to this support, they have pledged $100,000 to the National Scholarship Program. These funds will provide 40 deserving military family members with the opportunity to pursue their academic dreams. Due to the unique circumstances of military life, pursuing post-secondary education is a significant barrier for many Canadian Armed Forces families.
